Uniting Public and Private (and Civic)
You’ve explored the various mechanisms through which for-profit and not-for-profit investors get capital into landscapes. You are feeling pretty comfortable with these models and their general requirements, like bank loans, government grants, philanthropic gifts, private equity investments, and self-finance. But increasingly, investors are seeking to work together, to add value to each other’s investments. This is called blended finance, and it is a direct acknowledgement that many challenges require multiple kinds of capital that no single investor could provide.
